MY TRANSITIONING AND BIG CHOP STORY!

Hello Curlys!

I went to a fashion show in Lekki  with a friend and all I could notice out of the beautiful dresses was this model with her beautiful locks....I  was gone! I was like I want her hurrr (hair)  so bad! Her hair stood out from the rest and she looked so distinct and sophisticated. She wore her hair in a pretty afro with a little flower on the side...gosh she looked lovely! *no homo* lol! So the next day I thought to my self...hmmm maybe I should consider going natural...but then again will it suit me? my head is massive, short hair will make my head look bigger!! what will people say?? all those questions were running through my mind, so I shut the idea out of my head and continued with the creamy hair crack!  Not long before I got to the UK to study, my hair started breaking because of the harsh weather and lack of proper care...so I decided to transition for 3 months . My weekly routine was deep conditioning with honey, mayonnaise and eggs, I also occasionally used the Organic hair mayonnaise mix. My daily routine was oiling and massaging my scalp with almond, coconut or olive oils and shea butter. But after three months of  annoying breakage and different hair textures I decided to do the BIG CHOP! so snip snap my relaxed ends were gone. Below is a video of my BIG CHOP! Its very loud so embrace yourselves ladies!! lol

A few days before the big chop I had not gathered the confidence to chop my hair off because I felt it won't suit me or bothered about what people might think...and trust me people talked. So I sat myself down and listed out the pros and cons of my relaxed hair and also made a list of the benefits and demerits of natural hair. I put both lists side by side and I saw that I had  a lot to gain going natural than staying relaxed, and I have never regretted ever going natural...I love it!  One important attribute one most possess before going natural is SELF-CONFIDENCE, it is very crucial because people will put you down, say all sorts about you and even mock you to your face, but stay strong sistas because its all about you and how you feel!

I will end today's session by posting a video of tips for transitioning from relaxed hair to natural hair

Here are the oils and deep conditioning treatments I used for transitioning and still use..

Olive Oil

Coconut oil

Almond oil

Shea Butter

Natural Honey
